The Still Life
The still life, unlike the figure, is more dependent on the space it occupies in order to reveal it's true nature and announce it's importance. The energy of the still life is external and is supported by the forms that are created by the objects as well as the area that surrounds them. The resulting relationship gives life and meaning to the still life.
The first group of images are oil on canvas. They range in size, the largest being approximately 4'x4'. These are early works from the 1980's.
